An easy drinking but flavourful bitter brewed for Trafalgar Day October 21st. After the battle, Nelson’s body was returned to England preserved in a barrel of brandy. It is said that the sailors on the Victory drank some of the brandy as part of their grog ration, which became known as Nelson’s Blood. Every glass contains a drop of brandy.

CAMRA CHAMPION BEER OF ESSEX 2006

A golden beer to rival any other on the bar. Light and refreshing with a citrus (some say grapefruit!) note. We use a true English hop, the East Kent Golding, and in great abundance too. This is our best selling beer.

CAMRA CHAMPION GOLDEN ALE OF ESSEX 2006

A traditional  premium  bitter with malt notes from Maris Otter, Crystal and Chocolate Malt and lightly hopped with good old fashioned Fuggles and Goldings.

Captain Ann was the leader of the Maldon Grain Riots in 1629. . She is reported to have cried out during the riot "Come on my brave lads of Maldon, I will be your leader for we will not starve"
She got herself hung at Chelmsford Gaol after being found guilty of sedition - but really for calling herself "Captain Ann" and leading men against the authorities

FGB is an amber beer with a tremendous aroma that will knock you socks off. We use an obscene amount of Cascade Hops to get the aroma. It's expensive to make but we just love it! It was originally brewed for the Pig's Ear Beer Festival last year, but it is still propular so we are still brewing it regularly. It has won any prizes yet, but some say that it is only a matter of time.
